Adi Abian Villa / Uluwatu Bali, Indonesia/How to travel in 2024
I visited Bali, Indonesia, and planned to stay at several hotels there, including those in Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan. This was my first visit to Indonesia in 20 years. Two decades ago, I worked in Surabaya, Indonesia, for a year. However, during that time, I didn't have the opportunity to visit Bali because I was too caught up in enjoying myself in Surabaya. I was young and naive.
Finally, I visited Bali, an island often referred to as 'heaven.' However, I also heard people mentioning that Bali has become an overly touristy place and isn't quite the same as it used to be. Why don't I check it out and discover the current truth about the island myself?
Hotel report
Conclusion: You get what you pay for. The building is cute, but the internet connection leaves much to be desired. Overall, not a fan to stay for me.
People prioritize different aspects when evaluating hotels, I believe. For me, cleanliness is key, as well as the quality of amenities, especially the bathroom facilities. These aspects are crucial. Additionally, I consider whether it's worth the price.
I stayed for three nights. It cost 1,645,148 Indonesian Rupiah in total, which is approximately 106 USD at the exchange rate at that time. That's around 35 USD per night. To be honest with you, 35 USD per night is a great offer. I love it!

Hotel location
It took me about 40 minutes to reach the hotel from the airport by taxi.
The price was 179,000 Indonesian Rupiah, 11USD.
From the hotel to Uluwatu Temple, it's about a 7-minute ride by Gojek (motorbike taxi).
The price was 16,500 Indonesian Rupiah, 1 USD.
The absolute best features of this villa are the swimming pool and the garden.
An adorable building with predominantly white tones. It's uplifting. Although no one was there, the pool looked inviting.
Room
The room is very clean. The bed is average; it's not the best, but it's okay.
Firstly, the bathroom is enormous, almost half the size of the bedroom. I love it because I prefer having a spacious bathroom over a small one; it makes me feel much more comfortable. The cleanliness is acceptable, and the water pressure is also good.
There wasn't any sewage smell. Personally, if the water facilities are clean, I already consider it a 'good hotel.' It's the most important aspect for me.
In Southeast Asia, it's common for the toilet and shower areas to lack floor partitions (except in luxury hotels), which often makes the floor unhygienic. (I always buy separate sandals to wear specifically for showering besides going out.) However, here, there's a separate space designated for showering, which is comfortable, earning it a high score.
Bathroom amenities are basic. It's advisable to buy shampoo, conditioner, and body soap since they're insufficient.
There are two complimentary bottles of water, a pair of coffee cups, free coffee packs, and a kettle. The issue is there are only four hangers, and furthermore, there isn't sufficient space for hanging items. This is a significant downside.
This is a major issue. The mini table and chair provided are extremely small and low in height. I find it impossible to work or even eat comfortably here due to their size. Typically, I work using my laptop while in the room, and this aspect is a significant downside.
The pool water was clean. It's a small but charming pool, perfect for relaxing on sunny days.
You've covered many aspects, but I haven't mentioned the worst part yet. The Wi-Fi environment at this hotel isn't strong enough. I understand it might depend on the room's location within the hotel. Mine happened to be the closest location to their office.
While staying at this hotel, my card information was hacked, and my credit card was fraudulently used in the Netherlands. It's not the hotel's fault, but it's concerning. Free Wi-Fi often has weaker security, and my lack of proper vigilance contributed to the issue. So, if asked whether I would stay at this hotel again, it's a definite 'NO.' However, considering it's about 35USD per night, it might be fair for the price. I won't complain.
